Stenhousemuir boss search to end today

STENHOUSEMUIR are poised to name their new manager this morning.

The Ochilview outfit had

narrowed down more than

30 applicants to a seven-

strong shortlist who were

interviewed last week.

And to add fuel to the

speculation, Scotland

coach Kenny Black was

spotted at the club's

practice match with Beith

on Tuesday night.

However, contact from Heraldsport revealed it was merely through local interest and the ex-Airdrie manager will not be taking over his hometown team.

Club chairman Martin

McNairney confirmed

the club were on the

verge of unveiling their

new man, and expected a

formal announcement this

morning (Thursday).

"We have whittled the

shortlist down," McNairney

told Heraldsport.

"We should be in a position

to put something formal in

place before the end of the

week."

The successful candidate

is currently ?nalising his

move with his present

football employers.

"I'd fully expect him to be

in place to meet the team

and take the ?nal training

session of the week

(scheduled for tonight).

"And, weather permitting,

his first game should be

against Alloa on Sunday."

Since John Coughlin

tendered his resignation,

Kevin McGoldrick and

Graeme Robertson

have been

overseeing team affairs.
