Changes continue apace at Falkirk Rugby Club, which has named Paul Larter as the new chief of CALA Park.

He replaces Mark McKenzie who has moved on.

Larter had a successful stint with Edinburgh Northern where he guided the city team to two league victories in two seasons. He will be assisted by Niall Lear who will focus on coaching the Falkirk club’s back row.

As well as losing Mark McKenzie, the Sunnyside club has also seen several players depart for Stirling County, but with a burgeoning youth set-up the club is confident the spaces can be filled.

Larter is a UKCC-Level 2 Coach and has spent time at Biggar and Livingston RFC along with two seasons with False Bay RFC in South Africa and a period of coaching school rugby in South Africa.

He is also REPS Level 2 Gym instructor and REPS Level 3 Personal Trainer so there will be no more laid back pre-season training sessions!

As well as the playing personnel changes Alex McQuade has moved on as president as The Falkirk Herald revealed in March, and his role is now fulfilled by Matt Dodd.

Elsewhere, former Sunnysider Dale Lyon - who was also a player for Grangemouth Stags, has been named the new director of rugby at Linlithgow RFC.
