FALKIRK rugby club is in a transition period after establishing a position in Premier Two last season.

Players are moving both in and out of Sunnyside, with some more familiar than others.

Kevin McKenzie has finally called time on his long career. And after a horrendous knee injury incurred last season at Hughenden, Dave Millard has also retired.

However, coming in to the Sunnysiders’ club are a number of players with Premier One experience.

Stirling County pair Johnny Hope and Finn Russell are expected to hook-up with the Sunnysiders.

Kevin Bryce is also joining from Heriots while the club have again raided New Zealand. Following previous Kiwi at Sunnyside Casey Gibson are Jeff Lema and Keepa Mewet from Canterbury in New Zealand.

Matt Morrell is also making his way back to Falkirk, as is former club captain Roddy Denham.

The Sunnyside club’s pre-season is also taking shape.

As Heraldsport revealed last week, Melrose will formally open the new pitches at Sunnyside on August 20.

But before then Sunnyside will host Stirling County on July 30 and Glasgow Hutchesons Aloysians come calling the following week.

Coach Bob Wyllie could also be leading his team on a preparatory tour next month, but details on the trip have still to be arranged.
