FALKIRK lost out to a late Ross County strike but the result proved to be meaningless.

Dunfermline won at Cappielow to seal promotion to the SPL and Falkirk will be forced t watchthem celebrate next weekend.

There was little to celebrate at a bitterly cold Falkirk Stadium for the home side, who watched the Dingwall club grab an injury time winner through Jonathan Flynn’s header and seal First Division safety.

Chilling, swirling wind made play difficult and Steven Pressley was unable to mark his new contract with a win.

Tam McManus had the best chance of the first half, having a flashing header pushed off the line by Michael McGovern on the stroke of half-time.

The second half was little better and played out like an end-of-season game, until County learned Cowdenbeath were leading against Stirling.

They regained impetus and Steven Milne had a side-footed effort from three yards blocked by Robert Olejnik before he set up the winner by heading across goal to Flynn and ending a miserable season at The Falkirk Stadium for the Bairns.
