Current Fury and pro Glasgow Rocks star point guard Jonny Bunyan was joined by ex-teammate and present NCAA Division One player Ali Fraser on the trip to Essex in England this week to trial for the Great Britain under-20 Men’s team.
The pair who have played together in Fury and Scotland teams for the past nine years are part of a selected 20-player squad who will train for three days before the first cut is made.
Fraser now plays in the USA for Maine University and made the team last year as an 18-year-old and is expected to be a starting five player in this years European B Championships which are being held in Bulgaria. Bunyan also made the initial 20-player squad last year but did not make the final 12.
A season in the pro ranks with Glasgow Rocks in the British Basketball league will stand the point guard in good stead as he battles for the playmakers role but will be faced with tough opposition from US College Brits.
When the squad gets down to 14 they will embark on a series of warm-up matches in Belgium. To have two players in this elite 20 player group is a major achievement for the Falkirk Club .
