Pressley's side were unlucky not to take full points

Falkirk remain three points off Ross County after firing blanks against Ayr United.

In a frustrating game, the Bairns seemed to do everything bar put the ball in the net against the Honest Men who defended resoplutely to grab a much needed point in their battle against relegation.

TYhe hard-fought point doesn't take them any further from bottom club Queen of the South who did Falkirk a favour by holding league leaders County.

Steven Pressley's side were unable to take advantage of their pormotion rivals' slip after having two goals ruled out.

The first was called offside.

Stewart Murdoch headed a Kieran Duffie cross onto the bar, and Farid El Alagui followed up to nod over Kevin CXuthbert's shoulder from close range.

The second time the Bairns found the net came through Ayr's new recrtuit from Blackpool Adam Dodd.

He looped the ball, bizarrely into his own net as it left a ruck on the goal-line with three minutes to go.

Again El Alagui had headed on target but as Darren Dods slid in to force the ball home, Cuthbert was injured and the ball slipped to safety until a looping shot from the Ayr sub put the ball in the net.

They were far from Falkirk's only chances and Kallum Higginbotham, David Weatherston and new signing Jordan White all had chances to shoot but couldn't earn the Bairns a win they merited from their possession in the attacking third.

Stenhousemuir lost at home to Forfar, Peterhead defeated the Shire abut Dunipace saw off Vale of Clyde 3-1.
