Miller and Caldwell join the Falkirk team
FALKIRK Football Club has appointed two new directors, including a former boss at East Stirlingshire.
Lex Miller used to be chairman of Sauchie Juniors and before that clashed with Shire chairman Alan Mackin as a director at Firs Park.
The local businessman has now invested in the Bairns to become the latest new face in the Westfield boardroom.
As previously reported, Fergus Caldwell has been elected by BairnsTrust to fill the boardroom vacancy created when Michael White was appointed to the club staff. He is one of two fans' representatives elected by the trust.
The two new appointments mean the board is now back up to full strength.
Mr Miller said: "First and foremost I'm a football man through and through. I used to sing in the choir and I've been a fan all my life. To be asked to be involved with Falkirk FC is an honour and also a challenge.
"I'll do my utmost to play my part in moving the club in the right direction. I'm a hands-on person and think I'll bring different skills to the board. It's a chance that doesn't come up very often and I'd like to help take Falkirk to where they belong."
The club believes he will bring a strong local business dimension to the board, along with the recent appointment of Roger Crosthwaite.
Chairman Campbell Christie said: "I am pleased the board has been brought fully up to strength. I am also pleased Lex and Fergus have agreed to join.
"Both have been very much involved with the club and I'm sure they will use their special talents and knowledge for the benefit of the club. We are determined to take the club forward into the SPL in a sustainable way."
The full line-up of Falkirk FC directors is now:
Campbell Christie (chairman), Martin Ritchie, Ann Joyce, Douglas Paterson, Roger Crosthwaite, Graham Crawford, George Craig, Lex Miller, Bill Anderson (BairnsTrust) and Fergus Caldwell (BairnsTrust).
Fergus is on the board until April's AGM of BairnsTrust.
