Last race retiral sours TT series for Amor
FALKIRK biker Keith Amor's Isle of Man TT campaign ended on a sour note after he retired from the showpiece Pokerstars Senior race.
The 36-year-old had high hopes of repeating his podium exploits of earlier in the week, but mechanical problems again proved his downfall.
Steve Plater grabbed his second career TT race win to top the podium after 15-time winner John McGuinness was forced to pull out with a broken chain – despite accumulating a 20-second lead.
After exper-iencing similar bad luck, Amor refused to get down-hearted with his week on the island and vowed to bounce back strongly next year.
"It's a disappointing finish but the problem wasn't caused by the team – it was just down to metal overheating and that could have happened to any-one," said Amor.
"Full credit to the team. If you look at the retirements in the last race with top riders like Bruce Anstey and John McGuinness – that just sums it up.
"Everybody says the TT is all about preparation but it's not – it's about having a bit of luck.
"You can be as prepared as you want but if you don't get that luck ...."
The result ended a mixed week for the Wilson Craig rider.
After being forced out of the first race of the competition, he then picked up back-to-back third places in the Relentless Supersport and Royal London 360 Super-stock races before the disappointing finish.
