Thistle do nicely for Dickson as Warriors draw Caley in cup

Stenhousemuir have been rewarded for deposing Communities Cup holders Kilmarnock from the competition with a home tie against another side from the Scottish Premier League.
John Gemmell’s header at Rugby Park paved the way for Terry Butcher’s Inverness Caledonian Thistle side to visit Ochilview on Tuesday, September 25, and winger Sean Dickson - who was so impressive in Ayrshire last week, can’t wait.
“It’ll be really interesting to see how the team go into the game with another SPL club.
“We knew what we’d be getting because we were unseeded, and we had been joking it would be Inverness away because we seem to get a lot of long away journeys in the cup, but to get an SPL club at home is an exciting draw and one to look forward to.”
Dickson is looking forward to the lead-up to the next big meeting with an SPL outfit - but isn’t overlooking the ones in between, including Sunday’s trip to Arbroath in the Ramsdens Cup quarter final. “There’s a great spirit among the guys,” he added. “We went into the Kilmarnock game with a great attitude and I’ll be interested to see if we have the same against Inverness.
“There’s a belief, and an arrogance in the squad that we can win against Kilmarnock and big teams like that, and we’re not fearing Inverness in any way. We can’t wait for the game.
“Hopefully Inverness will find it tough when they come to Ochilview at the end of the month too.
“The synthetic pitch can be tricky - even for us - but you have to expect professional players to cope with it - we’ll just have to be up and at them.”
Sunday sees Stenhousemuir continue their cup runs with a trip to Arbroath, meaning no day off for the internationals over the weekend.
“Arbroath have had an up and down start to the season while we’ve had a really good start - except for last weekend,” he said.
“We want to put that right because it was a really disappointing performance and it’s not what this squad are all about.
“Gayfield’s always a tough place to go, but there’s even a local derby possible in the semi-final depending on results and that’s a great prospect too.
“We will be going out to keep our early season form going and improve on all the areas we struggled in last week.”
