Falkirk Amateurs display their trophy haul at the end of the season

Falkirk Amateurs have disbanded, despite sweeping all before them this season.

The club secured their 21st piece of silverware in six years on Saturday by winning the Mathiesons Challenge cup at Camelon’s Carmuirs Park.

But it will be the final trophy in the club’s history as they won’t be playing next season.

Boss Stephen McBride explained: “We’ve won everything that’s been put in front of us locally and the time has come to go out on a high.

“ It is time to move on for a lot of the guys and I know a few will be looking at taking their football further.

“They’ve been excellent and it’s been a brilliant season and brilliant to go out on a high with yet another trophy.

“I’d suggest we’ve been one of the best Amateur teams of recent times with us getting to Hampden in the Scottish Cup final and going unbeaten for so long in all the competitions outwith the Scottish Amateur Cup

Their final trophy was sealed with two first half goals in a 2-0 victory over Bonnybridge YFP.

It marked a remarkable 11 years for the club which included a lengthy unbeaten streak and Scottish Cup runs.
