Bairnfica AFC claim bragging rights over Pars
BAIRNFICA AFC, Falkirk's number one supporters' team, claimed some valuable bragging rights last Saturday.
With their favourite club out of action, due to the re-scheduled game with Hearts two days later, the fans travelled to Fife to take on their Dunfermline counterparts.
And, playing at East End Park, Bairnfica flew the flag for Falkirk by seeing off the Pars 2-0.
Played in a good spirit throughout, James Taylor put them one up with a spectacular 25-yard volley.
And the special silverware was secured for the Behind the Wall-sponsored side after a second goal from William Risk.
In fact, the team's hard work on the training field really paid off as, in the last 20 minutes, they were well on top and could have won by more. At the end of the match each player from both teams received a medal for taking part and the winners' trophy was presented in the stadium's Legends Bar. Chris Baty was voted man of the match.
Deryk Wilson, Bairnfica's manager, told Heraldsport: "It was a fantastic experience for our team to play at a professional stadium in front of a decent crowd.
"The day was made all the better by Falkirk FC allowing us the use of their official team bus, as well as donating 14 training jackets for the cause – I cannot thank them enough, and a special mention must also go to Alex Totten.
"It was certainly a proud day to be a Falkirk supporter."
