David Irons has been given a lesson in the frustrating pitfalls of part-time football because of snow, rain and another team playing on Stenhousemuir’s pitch.
The Warriors have twice been left kicking their heels this week when Saturday’s home game with Dumbarton was called off due to snow and then a planned trip to Forfar on Tuesday fell by the wayside because of a waterlogged pitch.
To make matters worse Irons had to cancel any plans he might have had to re-arrange a training session on Tuesday night because East Stirlingshire were playing Annan Athletic at Ochilview in a re-arranged league game.
“It’s just one of those things you just have to get on with,” said the Ochilview boss. “We know what the weather is like in this country and there is nothing you can do about it.”
However, he is concerned about the plight of players who have to keep on going back to their daytime bosses asking for time off work.
