All three of Falkirk Ladies competitive teams were in action last weekend and all three came away with maximum points in a very successful two days of action.
In the SWPL on Sunday, Falkirk took on Buchan in a must-win game for the home team after last week’s defeat at Kilwinning coupled with a great win for visitors against Hamilton.
Falkirk got off to a terrible start with the Buchan striker Hannah Stewart out-sprinting the home defence to round the keeper and give her side the lead inside the first two minutes.
However, Falkirk picked themselves up and a great run and cross from Jennifer Godfrey found Emma Lyons in the box, but she snatched her shot wide of the target. Buchan were dangerous on the break and Falkirk keeper Leigh Skelton had to be on her toes.
Falkirk levelled after a lung-bursting run from Jade Gallon, a neat side-step to beat the defender and a blistering shot gave the Buchan keeper no chance.
Falkirk then had a couple of efforts hit the bar before a corner from the right from Gallon was headed home by Lauren Nelson to give them a 2-1 going into half-time1.
The home side started the second half as they ended the first, on the attack. Gallon tormented the left of the defence and, from one such run, she set up Macleod who beat the centre-half and fired low past the keeper.
It was all Falkirk now and, from an in-swinging corner by Gallon, a Buchan defender turned the ball into her own net.
Gallon then scored the goal of the game by cutting in from the left, beating two defenders and curling into the top corner from 20 yards.
The final goal came from a penalty after good work down the left by Macleod and Nelson saw the latter fouled and Gallon scored from the spot.
Meanwhile, Falkirk Reserves stayed top of their division after a 3-1 win over Dundee and the under-13s won against Dumbarton 8-1.
