Falkirk Ladies were represented by vice-Captain Jennifer Godfrey and also striker Eva Rule and midfielder Susie MacLellan as the Scottish Football Association unveiled the new Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) at Hampden on Tuesday.
The brand launch is the culmination of eight years work with Elite clubs, by Anna Signeul head of women’s football at the SFA and recognition from UEFA of Scotland’s progress in the game. The country is one of only six selected for a new marketing project around women’s football.
Anna Signeul said: “We are delighted to announce the new branding for the women’s premier league in Scotland. This is testament to the level and quality of work delivered in the game by the volunteers and professional staff. We have worked really hard to seek the investment into the girls’/women’s game to support a proactive and strategic approach to the promotion, marketing and branding of the elite side of the game.
“The appointment of Nicola Campbell as the Brand Manager for women’s football has already had a major impact on the clubs, who are focused on promoting the work they deliver.
“We look forward to working over the coming years to create a professional environment and approach.”
The big re-launch co-incides with the restart of the women’s season which enters a second half on Sunday when Falkirk play Kilwinning, before a trip east to play Hutchison Vale and a match with Hamilton Academical on Sunday, August 11.
The Ladies currently sit bottom of the Premier League on three points, but just one win away from tenth place.
Kilwinning are their nearest competitors, a point ahead on four points.
The club’s second team, are currently top of their league table in the Central and East Second Division, with 25 points out of a possible 27 at the halfway stage.
They lead the league, and are six points ahead of neighbours Falkirk FC, in fourth spot with 19.
