Stenhousemuir have revealed that Saturday’s planned televised match with Rangers was not postponed due to a catering van colliding with a temporary stand at Ochilview.

It was widely reported that damage to the temporary structure’s roof was the principal reason the League Two match against the Glasgow giants, which was due to kick-off at 5.30 p.m., was called off.

Heraldsport can reveal that while the roof was damaged, this was repaired immediately and had no impact on the postponement.

The match was instead cancelled due to serious flooding at the turnstiles at the east end of Ochilview, which would have been used by the away support.

A club spokesperson added that the match referee would also have been likely to abandon the game due to high wind speeds.

Stenhousemuir previously announced that tickets for the match would remain valid. A date for the rearranged fixture will be announced this week.
