Stenhousemuir travel to Somerset Park on Saturday knowing a victory would cement their current top three place in League One for at least another two weeks.

Hosts Ayr United are a single point behind the Warriors in fourth place and boss Martyn Corrigan knows that both sides will be eager to put distance between themselves and the rest of the chasing pack.

“Ayr are one of the strongest teams in the league behind Rangers and Dunfermline,” he told Heraldsport.

“They gave us a very tough game at Ochilview earlier in the season and we’re expecting more of the same this weekend.”

Stenny are still missing several players, including Darren Smith and Sean Higgins, through injury. Ross Brash became the latest player to pick up a knock last week and is now expected to be out for two to three weeks.

Corrigan hopes that Bryan Hodge will be fit enough to return to action against Ayr, but the midfielder broke down at training on Tuesday night and remains a doubt.

Meanwhile, Stenhousemuir fans have been invited to buy more shares in the club. Details are available at the club website.
