“It was difficult to leave Hibs but sometimes the opportunity is just to great.

“To work with Peter Houston – a big name in the game – was a big draw and there are big games coming up. That’s what you want - to start at the sharp end and there are lots of talented players here to work with so I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

McDonaugh was previously under-20 coach at Hibs’ academy and comes to the Bairns highly rated after coaching the likes of Alex Harris and Danny Handling to the first-team at Easter Road.

He replaces Dale Brooks who has joined Norwich and Gary Holt as The Falkirk Herald exclusively revealed last week (here)
