Falkirk have strengthened their midfield with the loan signing of Mark Millar

The midfielder confirmed The Falkirk Herald exclusive, which we revealed this morning, on Twitter.

He said: “Delighted to sign a short-term loan deal with Falkirk until January - get the ball out.”

The former Falkirk Herald Starshot winner – who scored a spectacular injury-time free-kick to beat Rangers – is under contract at Dundee United but Heraldsport learned his former club was keen on restoring him to a navy blue jersey.

An additional signing is also being eyed by the Bairns, and the Scottish Cup bye this weekend gives them time to work onstrengthening Gary Holt’s squad further before the league campaign resumes with a home game against Livingston.

Millar moved to Tannadice under a freedom of contract at the end of season 2011-12 having played 76 times for Falkirk, picking up 13 goals, 26 bookings and two red cards in his role as the cornerstone of the midfield.

But since his switch to the City of Discovery, Millar has found appearances hard to come by and he has not featured for the Tangerines’ first team since a seven-minute League Cup cameo in August.

The Bairns have recently shipped young midfielder Steven Brisbane out on-loan. The 18-year-old has joined Stevie Pittman at Broxburn Juniors.
