Falkirk could be without two of their most influential players for Saturday’s must-win game against Dumbarton.
Sean Higgins (pictured) is likely to be out of the squad altogether after picking up an injury, while top-scorer Lyle Taylor is also rated a doubt.
It’s bad news for Steven Pressley as he looks to steer Falkirk to what would be only their second league win of the season.
Both Higgins and Taylor were stand-out performers in the Bairns’ last match against local rivals Dunfermline and their loss will be keenly felt.
Taylor scored two well-taken goals that day and has been Falkirk’s most potent threat going forward so far this season.
“It’s a blow,” Pressley told Heraldsport. “But we’ll still be looking to build on the progress we made in the Dunfermline game. It was an encouraging performance and we’ll be looking for more of the same.
“We approach every game from the same perspective - we look to win. This one will be no different.”
Falkirk will face Dumbarton in a league game for the first since 1994 on Saturday. The Sons have endured a miserable return to the First Division so far, picking up just two points from eight games and conceeding 25 goals in the process.
Alan Adamson’s side are no push-overs however, as proved by their battling 2-2 draw away to Raith Rovers in their last match two weeks ago.
