East Stirlingshire were the only senior side in action locally today, and they missed out in a battling derby.
Ex-Falkirk physio Kenny Crichton was kept busy for visitors Stirling Albion, as was counterpart Anna Murray as the sides shared five goals at Ochilview.
Shire were 2-0 down within seven minutes but hot-shot left-back Nathan Shepherd was again the goal hero, and reduced the deficit on the quarter-hour mark.
That’s how it stayed at the interval, but former Ochilview favourite with stenhousemuir Ross McMillan notched another goal at Gladstone Road to send his new side 3-1 to the good and on course for the three points, but a late rally from Shire and a goal from teenager Alistair Roy set up a frantic finish in injury time but the home side couldn’t force an equaliser.
Falkirk were idle because of teh international weekend affecting opponents Hibs, and Stenhousemuir’s match with Ayr was brought forward and played last Tuesday because of this weekend’s Scottis Airshow at Ayr. Stenhousemuir lost the re-arranged game 5-2.
