Falkirk Athletic got together to mark a successful season in the under-21s league, but it’s also a farewell too as the side breaks up.
Star striker Zander Miller, son of Falkirk FC director Lex Miller, has signed terms with junior giants Bo’ness United after a stunning scoring spree helped the Falkirk side to unprecedented success.
Miller has hit 120 goals in two years, including six hat-tricks last term.
The forward also scored goals as Athletic triumphed in the league, Glasgow Cup and in the league cup final.
He played his part among the team which had a season to remember as the only team out with the West of Scotland to win an unprecedented treble - a feat never achieved before.
They played 26 league games, winning 24.
Records fell before Christmas when the team won 13 league and cup games in a row and broke records again when they won a fantastic 18 games in a row to win the League and Cup double.
Manager Brian Penman said: “I’m so proud of the players and what they have achieved. This should not be underestimated, we have played some very good sides this season, some of the best teams in Scotland at this age group and to win the treble was fantastic.”
Brian added that thanks should also go to the Station Hotel for their continued support and hospitality, the Falkirk Herald for printing our match reports, the committee for their commitment over the last 10 months and of course the players who have been simply magnificent. Falkirk were also highest scorers and conceded the least.
The season was not straightforward, however, as Athletic only managed three games at their Stirling Road home ground, yet put this adversity to the side to secure silverware.
The successful squad included James Penman,Ross McIness, Jordan Gray, Jamie Arbuckle, Craig Stewart, Conor McKay, Kevin Clark, Craig Irvine, Scott Blair, Jason Walton, Zander Miller and Martin Russell at The Station Hotel in Larbert which sponsors the club.
