McGowan dons boots again to held fund Foundation

Jamie McGowan and Alex Totten with trophy that's up for grabs

Jamie McGowan and Alex Totten with trophy that's up for grabs

Jamie McGowan still calls Alex Totten ‘gaffer’ – a habit the former defender can’t get out of after spending so many years under his tutelage at Brockville..

And they’ll reprise their roles as player and manager on Friday when McGowan once again takes to the field as part of a Totten-inspired Falkirk side.

They’re both key figures in the Falkirk v Old Firm match, raising funds for the club’s award-winning community department.

The Falkirk Football Community Foundation is 10 years old and the match is one of the final celebration events of 2012.

A star-studded guest list is joining the pair - with Alex Rae, Charlie Miller, Frank McGarvey, Andy Walker, Darren Jackson and even Tommy Sheridan named on the visiting team sheet.

They’ll be managed by Murdo McLeod who’ll pit his wits against Totten in the dugouts.

The Falkirk side is expected to include Jack Ross, Craig McPherson, Jimmy Gilmour, Andy Lawrie, Kenny Ward and Albert Craig ... and they could be joined by a Falkirk Herald reader.

Bids are being accepted for the final two places in each team, and can be e-mailed to richardf@falkirkfc.co.uk.

Entry to the match is £5 for adults and £1 for children with all proceeds funding the FFCF.

It will help provide equipment and materials for the community coaching schemes and the learning centre.
