It’s ‘Second Chance Saturday’ at Falkirk

The sell-out Saturday scheme boosted the crowd at Firhill last week, and now Falkirk are seeking a second chance.
The supporters’ initiative - to try to sell-out stadiums across Scotland after a summer of uncertainty in football saw almost 4000 watch Falkirk go down to Partick.
Numbers weren’t so good elsewhere at the other 20 grounds hosting the first league games of the season, but this weekend the tables have turned and Falkirk and Stenhousemuir fans have the chance to back their team vocally and financially at home games.
Stenhousemuir assistant boss Kevin McGoldrick told The Falkirk Herald: “Every team relies upon their fans.
“We’ve made a good start to the season, and myself and Martyn would ask the fans to come along on Saturday and make themselves heard.”
Bairns general manager David White told The Falkirk Herald: “The season tickets should, hopefully, break the 2,000 mark by Saturday and next week’s Rangers ticket sales are doing well too - so the month of August, on a ticketing level is looking like a very good one for the club
“That will mean we should see a good crowd on Saturday - but I think the sell-out Saturday idea had more of an impetus in the SPL - there weren’t many sell-outs across Scotland last weekend
“But you always see a little jump for the first home game of the season. and we’re looking forward to the games this month.”
For one club who are almost guaranteed of performing in front of a big crowd is East Stirlingshire who travel to Ibrox for Rangers’ first home league game of 2012-13.
Falkirk go there at the end of the month, but welcome Rangers to The Falkirk Stadium, and are hoping both home games - with Raith and Rangers - will make amends with fans disappointed the opening day defeat.
Boss Steven Pressley added: “That’s gone now and we’re focussed on the next 35 games in the league starting with Raith Rovers.
“Of course we need the supporters behind us but we realise we have a responsibility to give them a football style that they enjoy and play with purpose and energy and also improve on the areas we were lacking in at Partick - which was a disappointing result.”
