I’ll mask the pain if necessary says defender
Defender Stephen Kingsley says he’d be willing to pull on a mask before Hallowe’en - if it helped Falkirk back into the First Division mix.
The 18-year-old “knew straight away” that his nose was broken in a sickening collision in the first half of Saturday’s 2-0 win at Dumbarton.
And the left-back is hoping the blow won’t curtail his form which has improved game-on-game since the start of the season.
“I feel I’ve done a bit better as each game has gone on so it’s important that I don’t let this injury interrupt the momentum I feel I’ve been getting with my run of games.
“I don’t want to miss a game and to be off the park injured when the boys got only the second win of the season on Saturday was really frustrating personally - because it was such an important victory for the team.
“On the back of a good win we can go into the game with Partick Thistle with morale really high - and I want to be part of that game.”
Kingsley was meeting a consultant as The Falkirk Herald went to press yesterday but added: “If it means wearing a protective mask so I could play, whatever it takes, I’ll try to do it.”
If he does miss out Liam Dick is his untested left-back understudy, but after taking precautions in training, Kingsley hopes to pull on the number three jersey again on Saturday.
“It’s just a case of waiting to hear what the consultant says - I’ve explained I really want to know this week so I can see about playing.
“I only took part in the light jogging sessions at training this week and I’ll be careful until I know for sure, but I’m desperate to be involved and keep my place.
“Dumbarton was a test but we won and that could be an important victory. Do the same against Partick Thistle who are also flying after their 7-0 win and I believe we could be back in the mix and closer to where we should be - and that’s something I really want to be involved in.”
