Ex-Bairn Twaddle is looking for a return to Scotland after cancelling his Rochdale contract this morning

Marc Twaddle is eyeing a move back to Scotland after having his contract at Spotland cancelled.

The defender made the switch to Rochdale in England’s League One, almost excatly a year ago and said his Falkirk goodbyes at the friendly game with Alloa at Recreation Park.

But the former Jag has had a difficult spell in England only featuring for the club a handful of times, and reports in this morning’s newspapers stated his desire to move back to Scotland.

The Falkirk Herald can reveal his wish has been granted this morning and Twaddle is expected for follow Mark Stewart, Chris Mitchell and Brian McLean back to Scotland after a year across the border after agreeing to tear up his remaining one-year deal with Dale boss John Coleman today.

Twaddle has had two spells with Falkirk and was initially signed from Rangers. He progressed through the Academy before moving to Partick Thistle.

Eddie May paid for his return as the first signing of his tenure in charge of the club, and Twaddle also struck the first goal of the Steven Pressley era at Tyunecastle in a 3-2 defeat to Hearts in February 2010.
