Ryhs Bennett has joined Rochdale

Farid El Alagui is the only player out of contract with Falkirk last term still without a club after Rhys Bennett joined Rochdale.

The towering central defender signed a one-year deal at Spotland where he joins ex-Bairn Marc Twaddle.

Bennett was on loan from Bolton and spent the season in and out of the Bairns’ line-up.

He, El Alagui, Thomas Scobbie and Mark Millar all came to the end of their Falkirk deals at the end of the season and Bennett was subsequently released by his relegated Lancashire club.

Since then, Scobbie has secured a switch to St Johnstone and Millar has followed him to the SPL with Dundee United.

Bennett’s deal leaves only 28-goal striker Farid awaiting to seal his deal, and Falkirk are keen to keep him - though Steven Pressley has admitted he is waiting in hope more than expectation of retaining the Morroccan.
