Farid El Alagui had a phenomenal goalscoring record in his year at Falkirk

After running late and sweeping in to a trial match at Grangemouth Stadium, the Moroccan promptly scored against Dundee United.

From then on there was no looking back - a stunning strike in a pre-season friendly at Alloa spurred him on to earn a deal ahead of Thomas McManus and go down in Falkirk folklore as a fan favourite.

He’d later find his lucky coin in the turf at The Falkirk Stadium and fire the Bairns to Hampden with goals to knock Rangers and Dundee United out of the Communities League Cup.

A return of 28 goals marked him as one of Falkirk’s most prolific marksmen - and The Falkirk Herald was with him all the way.

Today he signed for Brentford in English League One.
