Boay, oh boay, did our weekly columnist not like the view and travelling arrangements at Dumbarton’s riverside ground.

LAST WEEK’S TEASER: The manager with only five senior appearances to his name was John Hagart. John played all his games with Berwick Rangers.

MYSTERY PIC: Last week the player was Willie Woodburn of Rangers. Woodburn won 24 Scotland caps but was suspended sine die in 1954, although the ban was later revoked. Can you name the players in the Dundee, Dundee United and Hibs kits?

GOALKEEPING MEMORIES: Good to see the old Bankies star keeper Jim Gallacher still in the game as a goalkeeping coach. He gave great service and I can still see him playing on with a bad leg injury in the gathering darkness at Brockville.

SAILING PAST THE POST: That must have been a first. Seeing boats sailing past the post made a pleasant change from seeing shots sailing past. The ground at Dumbarton was situated right by the river and the setting was quite idyllic. Nobody managed to kick a ball into the river on Saturday, but I’m sure it wouldn’t take much. Who will be the first player to send a ball into the Clyde and repeat the feat at Gayfield and land one in the North Sea?

GLASS HALF-FULL: The half-time score from Ibrox was Rangers 0 Queens Park 0. Cue ironic jeers from the crowd. One supporter suggested a certain BBC Scotland radio pundit would have as his half-time intro “Rangers Holding League Leaders.”

T -SHIRT SATURDAY: What a furore. It rounded off a bad week for football what with events in Serbia and the aftermath of the John Terry affair.

TOLERANCE?: On Kick Racism Out Of Football day, the watchword was tolerance. We were all filled with the spirit of non-discrimination on the grounds of race and religion. But nobody mentioned hair. The silence was shattered with the comment “ Ye’ve left yer yellow cairds at hame, Baldie”. Shampoo Saturday anyone?

CREDIT WHERE CREDIT’S DUE: Well done to the Dumbarton club for their bus arrangements. Drop off near the entrance- park in the vicinity- collect from the exits. Much appreciated lads.

AT LAST- SANITY: Well done to referee Finnie for showing a yellow card to the Dumbarton player for diving. More referees need to follow his example and stop this cheating.

MORE THAN A STOPPER: What about that deft back heeler from skipper Darren Dods in the opposing penalty box? He surprised everyone- including himself.

TEASER: Which ex- Bairn had a unique football achievement in winning cup medals in Scotland, England and Ireland?
