TWO teenage canoeists are now ranked with the best in Britain after the Scottish championships at the end of last month.

CR Cat Leone Glackin’s win at Selkirk was enough to gain her promotion to UKs Top Prem/Div 1 division. Team-mate Sophie Ogilvie also did enough for promotion to Prem-Div1.

That puts the two 13-year-olds among the top 15 canoeists in Britain and the best ranked under-14s in the UK.

The CR Cats club dominated the recent Scottish Championships taking seven of nine trophies available.

It was a Denny double as the Cats took both under-14s Junior titles. Sophie Ogilvie and Aiden Waters were top places in both sections of the age-group with Leon Glackin, also from Denny, coming second in the girls’ competition and Alex Linkstead from Polmont fifth in the boys.

Sophie Ogilive was also second in the Girls K1 event, but club member Jonny Dickson from Linlithgow was first among the boys, with Glackin third and Rebecca Ogilive and Toni Boyd finishing just outside the podium places.

There was also a C2 second-place for Aiden Waters and Jonny Dickson.

In the junior under-12s Cats’ Laura Milne was top and Polmont’s Linkstead took the boys’ title. He was runner-up in the K1 class, behind Jonny Dickson, while Milne was again victorious in the female category.
