Falkirk Rugby Club have a must-win game on Saturday when title rivals Cartha Queen’s Park visit CALA Park.
Though the home side sit top of the league, the Glasgow side have two games in hand and a win for Mark McKenzie’s side could prove vital in the race for promotion to a national set-up which is again being re-configured this summer.
And the Sunnysiders enter the match on a high after demolishing Dunfermline 41-17 in the cup last weekend.
“We had something to prove,” said McKenzie. “We weren’t at our best in the match before when we lost some points in the league to Dumfries, so it is good to go in on a high especially as we were missing a couple of players with it being the holiday period.
“We will be again, but the depth and quality of the squad means that shouldn’t be an issue and whoever comes in will be more than capable of doing the job for us.”
Neither Matt Larsen nor Lawrence Miller will be at CALA Park on Saturday, but McKenzie hopes a big crowd will help bring in the new year down Dorrator Road.
“The support this season has been tremendous and hopefully there will be many down on Saturday to help cheer the guys on because it promises to be a difficult game. Cartha were runaway leaders at one point but now we’re on top.”
