STEVEN Pressley has praised injured midfielder Stewart Murdoch, and was relieved to hear his knee injury is not serious.

Murdoch was injured in a typically fearsome midfield tackle with Queen of the South’s Stephen Simmons that even burst the ball.

But though he was stretchered off in agony, Murdoch attempted to return to the fray before conceding and leaving the ground on crutches.

“The way he got off that stretcher and battled on, it was like Lazarus,” said his boss.

“I know Stewart Murdoch and you can never rule him out - he’s that type of player.

“We’re relieved the scan only showed inflammation and he’ll be back sooner rather than later.”

However Monday’s Boxing Day clash could be too soon for the battling Bairn, but all the players are on a high after the 5-1 drubbing of the Doonhamers on Saturday.
