Jonny Bunyan will return to the Glasgow Rocks for a third straight season after a more than impressive initial two years with the club.

Jonny has been part of the BBL squad and continually shown improvement in his game. This season will see him step up into a more pivotal role for the Rocks as he takes on the responsibility of back-up point guard. “I am looking forward to an increased role within the team this season and playing another term with EJ Harrison, Gareth Murray and Sterling Davis.

“It looks as though we have a great group of guys this season. I am desperate to emulate my brother (Keith) and bring home some silverware to the Rocks in what is now my third season. I am ready to make a valuable contribution towards that goal.”

Bunyan was the stand-out performer for the Scottish side, scoring 20 and 17 points respectively during the encounters, as the Scots completed a double win over a very strong England side.

Not only did Jonny impress during the Summer Slam, but his consistently high level of play was recognised by Basketball Scotland as he also took home the coveted National League MVP Award while playing for Fury.

With his resume beginning to turn heads, Jonny will be motivated more than ever to prove himself at the professional level and there is no individual more confident in his abilities than coach Sterling Davis, who said: “Jonny has really progressed over the last couple of seasons with us on court, as well as his work ethic off-court, to put himself in a position to play an important role in our team.

“I feel very confident Jonny will handle itand also be a major contributing factor night after night.”

Fury headcoach –and Jonny’s father –John Bunyan said: “Jonny had a great 12-13 season in guiding us to become Scottish Men’s Champions and he was rightly voted the League MVP. With excellent performances against England and valuable continued development at the DS8 camp in Leicester, Jonny is ready to make a significant contribution to the Rocks this season.”

As it stands, the Rocks’ first major workout will take place on September 21 and 22 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

The season begins there on October 6 against Surrey Heat.
