Former Comely Park Primary pupil, and Clark Eriksson Fury forward, Ali Fraser has been nominated for the ‘Emerging Athlete of the Year’ gong in the Great Britain basketball annual awards.

Fraser earned the nomination by top scoring for GB at the European Championships with a 19.7 point per game average - the tournement’s third-best scoring record.

In Maine he is a starter and takes around 12 points per game,.playing for around 32 minutes of each

Fury Headcoach John Bunyan who was Fraser’s coach from his time as a 10 year old through to college in the States told Heraldsport “ No one deserves such a nomination more than Ali – since he went to High School here in Falkirk he has focused on listening to the right people both on and off court and making himself a fantastic basketball player. I would particularly point out my older son Keith and Wai Mun Lee from FVC who took Ali to another level phycically with the work they did with him as being key in where he is today. Players like Jonny and Bryan Munnoch in his age group team have also really supported Ali in the many matches and competitions with Fury.

“His parents have been very supportive to him and his girlfriend Hannah and I am looking forward to the results of the awards in 2013 – Ali would be a very worthy winner and do himself, his friends , family , Fury, Maine and Scottish basketball proud.”
