The Sons fielded most of their first team against John Coughlin's reserves and ran out deserved 2-0 victors.
Andy Greggan steered past the impressive Scott Bennett in 17 minutes and Iain Chisholm swept home a second in the 68th after Bennett made
a superb save to block Liam Cusick's point blank volley.
From a home point of view the result was insignificant, but Bennett's confident performance between the sticks must give the manager a decision to make for his starting line-up when the season starts.
Midfielder Iain Thomson ruled the roost in 90 minutes following his return from honeymoon and with young Nicki Murray looking strong in the middle of the defence, after signing from Edinburgh Lochend juveniles,
Coughlin has given himself options in that area with the minimum of cost.
Craig McEwan also played the full game at right back.
Although the discipline of some who have come through the ranks left something to be desired, the manager is setting up a squad that looks more than capable of a promotion challenge when the new term begins.
The friendly against Kilmarnock next Wednesday will probably reveal Coughlin's preferred line-up and that will be a game all Warriors fans will want to see.
