FOOTBALL games could be literally popping up anywhere after the launch of a new inflatable pitch scheme.
In an effort to get youngsters involved in sport, a inflatable walled pitch will tour areas identified as 'hot spots' by the police.

The initiative is a result of a partnership between Falkirk FC, Falkirk Council and Falkirk Planning and Community
Partnership, which secured funding from the Falkirk Council Local Action Fund.

The project will become part of the successful twilight leagues scheme and will soon be touring areas on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights –
between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Richard Fox, Falkirk FC senior community coach, said: "At the moment we hold the twilight leagues at Graeme High, Grangemouth Sports Complex,
Bo'ness Recreation Centre and The Falkirk Stadium, but this will allow us to go out into different areas which have been identified as 'hot spots' in the community, which would not have been possible before."

Alan Taylor, SFA development officer, added: "There will be several key benefits. It will allow us to increase quality facilities in the area, improve youth development and give kids the opportunities to play football in a safe environment."

George Craig, Falkirk FC managing director, said: "The twilight leagues have been extremely popular and we see this as the next step in the club getting involved with the Falkirk community.

"This is not just about football, it's also about getting young boys and girls off the streets and promoting the message about living a healthy and happy lifestyle."

He added: "This project has only been made possible thanks to a number of partners working together to gain funding for this facility and hopefully we can continue this partnership again for future projects."

Any youth group or people working with youths in the area who would be interested in the pitch – or in more information – should contact Richard Fox at Falkirk Football Club on (01324) 624121 (option 3).
