ASPIRING Olympians can get a taste of athletics at a special programme during the summer holidays.
Children aged between five and 13-years-old are being invited to Grangemouth Sports Stadium for the Norwich Union Star:track Summer
Festival, which is designed to introduce kids to the sport in a fun and enjoyable way.

Youngsters will have the c
hance to experience all the main track and field events that will feature at the Beijing Olympic Games, including various sprints, relay races, hurdling, shot putt, javelin, discus, pole vault, long jump and high jump.

As well as extensive coaching by UK Athletics qualified staff, all essential equipment will be provided and, at the end of each week, participants will receive a certificate of merit and goody bag.

Classes began this week but will run for another two, from Monday to Friday (July 21-25 and August 4-8), between 10 a.m. and noon.

And, if they enjoy the summer course, children can also join the after school athletics scheme – the Run, Jump and Throw Club.

For more information and an application form visit www.falkirk.gov.uk and check the Grangemouth Stadium 'what's on' section. Alternatively contact Fraser Mackenzie on (01324) 504598.
