The Clark Eriksson side do still have a game in hand but remain plagued by injury, with three key players missing, and a fourth – Roni Gordon – not yet fully
fit.
Former Italian league professional Gordon still grabbed 17 points in this encounter, but Frenchman Walter Lubeigt, centre Marek Pawlak and the latest casualty, Scotland junior Bryan Munnoch, were all sidelined.
Fellow juniors Ali Fraser and Jonny Bunyan, with 24 and 19 respectively, maintained their scoring rate for the seniors yet captain Keith Bunyan struggled from the perimeter and the usually consistent Matt Hoffman could only manage two points.
And, while the statistics still showed that Fury's top four scorers actually outscored those of the Saints, the remaining players in both teams gave the Paisley side a massive 19-2 advantage.
Fury head coach John Bunyan told Heraldsport: "This was a key game on our home court to one of our main rivals for the title, and we came up short.
"We had genuine injury issues while Roni's reduced mobility on court did not help. But we need scorers and he got 17 points – something I would have struggled to get elsewhere."
