FALKIRK could be on the verge of signing another new player prior to the opening of the January transfer window.
The club board will convene tonight (Thursday) and are set to discuss funding and seek approval for the short-term move in order to aleviate Eddie May's injury-ravaged squad.
The head coach has already drafted in free agents Pedro 'Pelé' Monteiro
and Pedro Moutinho this month, and has been casting his eye over a number of other players who are currently out of contract.
One is believed to be 23-year-old French midfielder Toufik Zerara, a former under-20 internationalist.
Zerara started his career at Ligue One club Sochaux in his home country before moving to Germinal Beerschot in the Belgian Jupiler League.
The 5' 10" player, of Algerian descent, most recently turned out for Al Dhafra in the United Arab Emirates League.
He is understood to have been on trial with the Bairns and impressed head coach May who is looking to add to his threadbare squad.
However, while Falkirk would hope to sign a player in time for Saturday's match with Hibernian at Easter Road, any move could be held up by red tape as international clearance would have to be sought.
May said: "Trying to get clearance from these countries is not that easy. There are some communication problems and they have a different way of working.
"There are a number of obstacles to overcome so we will wait and see what develops."
The manager has been rocked with a number of long-term injuries to key players in recent weeks and had no less than SEVEN out prior to last weekend's 2-0 defeat of Hamilton Accies.
"It's just been a horrendous time for injuries," added May.
