The former Falkirk, Motherwell, Stenhousemuir and East Stirlingshire player took over the reins of the Mariners last week, after Allan McGonigal crowned his last game in charge with victory in the East of Scotland Cup.
While McGonigal heads to Thi
rd Division Berwick Rangers, Denham is busy putting his own mark on the Carmuirs outfit for the new campaign – which he assures fans will be an entertaining prospect.
"I have always had a background of open attacking football," he explained. "From my days at Motherwell, to playing under guys like Alex Totten at Falkirk, that style of football has always been encouraged.
"I want to go out and attack to win games with a passing style and that is something which is now possible in Junior football. Over the last few years the long-ball tag has been disappearing from this level and a
lot of teams are now getting the ball down and playing some good stuff.
"If we can be more successful and bring more people along to the games then it can only help the team on the park too."
Stepping into the shoes of McGonigal is a daunting prospect, but the new man at the helm is excited by the challenge.
"Coaching is something I have wanted to get into since I retired from the game.
"And so I am delighted to have the opportunity to come to club like Camelon. It's a fantastic club, which is well established in the Superleague and has a great support.
"Obviously I have been following the club through their successful campaign this year and was at the recent cup finals – so hopefully I will be able to bring success here as well.
"My job will be to carry on taking the club to the next level by improving the league position and making progress to the next stage of the Scottish Cup."
Joining the outgoing manager will also be several key players for the Mariners, including star striker Jim Lister and midfielder Andy Shirra – so Denham knows adding quality to the squad is a priority.
"We have a good nucleus of a squad here, but obviously there are one or two more positions we need to fill," he said.
"Jim Lister going to Berwick leaves a gap up front, so we are definitely looking at bringing in another striker.
"We are looking at quite a few players who have been playing in the
lower leagues.
"We have contacted them about coming here, but understandably they are waiting to see if something comes up before giving us an answer and heading to Junior football."
Along with the new playing staff, Denham will also bring well-travelled striker Stevie Kerrigan to join him as assistant manager.
He added: "Stevie is looking forward to the challenge and having played up front for clubs such as Ayr United, Stirling and Albion Rovers, his experience can only be a good for the strikers at the club."
Denham – whose career was blighted by injury, forcing him to retire from his last club, Linlithgow Rose – hopes his good local knowledge will also prove a valuable tool.
"I have a great relationship with all the clubs in the area and hopefully that will prove useful throughout the season," he said.
"Already, because of my past with Falkirk and knowing a few people, I have managed to arrange a friendly against them in July.
"As well as being a good test for us, it will be great for both the Camelon and Falkirk fans to have a local derby.
"I would rather have friendlies against teams from a high level that will be a test to us, as it means the players will have played good opposition and be ready before they start the season."
