The St Mungo's High School pupil set a new 100m backstroke West District time at the Scottish Open Championships in January.

And it could be a sign of big things to come in the future because
previous holder Tait eventually went on to win gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Kieran also competed at the WISE (Wales, Ireland, Scotland, England) International Schools Gala in Crawley last month.

He fought off strong competition to earn his place in the Scottish team
and returned home with the bronze trophy for the 200m breaststroke.
Success

Then, one week later at the West District Open Championships in Cumbernauld, he had more medal success – breaking the West District (17-years age group) record for the 200m individual medley and taking the silver in the process.

Kieran, along with team-mates Ross Muir and David Smith, also took gold, silver and bronze medals respectively in the 200m backstroke – a position normally reserved for the larger swimming clubs.

All three went on to further medal successes while younger Otter swimmers achieved personal bests in a number of events.

Kieran also trains with the FIRST squad, a partnership between Falkirk Otter ASC, Falkirk Council and Bo'ness ASC.

Now running for two years, it has taken the Otters forward in leaps and bounds. Back then only two swimmers qualified for the Scottish Age
Group Championships but, this year, that figure will have more than quadrupled – proof in itself that the programme is working.
