FALKIRK'S managing director George Craig says that the Principality of Liechtenstein is a perfect destination for their supporters' first-ever foray into Europe, but insisted the club will not treat it as a holiday.
The Bairns were matched against FC Vaduz when the draw for the second qualifying stage of the Europa League was made in Nyon, Switzerland, on Monday.
Eddie May's side will host their opponents when the first tie takes place on Thursday, July 16, before travelling to the principality one week later for the return leg.
Mr Craig represented Falkirk at the draw in Nyon and told
Heraldsport: "As the new kids on the block, it was great to be in Switzerland on behalf of the club. It was a fantastic experience.
"We waited 133 years for this chance so we hoped to be drawn somewhere where the fans could feel a part of the occasion and really enjoy themselves.
"The fear was going into the back of beyond, which would have taken some of the gloss off it. However, Liechtenstein is perfect and perhaps a better place could not have been picked.
"It was described by the Vaduz officials as something of a paradise so we expect a lot of fans will travel there to get their first taste of European football."
The Principality of Liechtenstein is a landlocked microstate bordered by Switzerland and Austria, the smallest German-speaking country in the world and is not part of the European Union. Vaduz is the capital, situated along the Rhine, which has a population of around 5100.
Falkirk's opponents are managed by German legend Pierre Littbarski, who won 73 caps for West Germany and played at three World Cup finals.
The home ground of Vaduz is Rheinpark Stadion, which has a capacity of 6127, and in recent years they have mostly played in the Challenge League, the second tier of the Swiss league system.
After mounting a number of serious challenges for promotion, though, the club eventually made the step up to the highest level of Swiss football following a successful 2007-08 season but were relegated from the top flight just one year later.
In their only previous match against Scottish opposition, Vaduz lost out to Livingston on away goals in a Uefa Cup qualifier seven years ago.
"We've been so wrapped up in qualifying for Europe that I don't think many have looked beyond July 16 and 23," said Mr Craig.
"What we need to do now is concentrate on winning the tie.
"I do think we have a winnable game, although it will be a big challenge against a team that plays in Europe every year. They will present a stiff test at this level.
"Vaduz are also looking forward to returning to Scotland, after several previous trips 'east', and will be right up for it.
"So we are not going for a holiday – this is work and we need to try and get as far as we can in the competition."
Falkirk have formed a partnership with TMG Sport, which will manage the travel requirements of the players, staff and supporters.
