The wedding of Mary Rhind and Martin McEwan
THE COUPLE: Mary (31) is from Grangemouth and works as a youth learning
development worker at Forth Valley College in Alloa. Martin (30) is from Stirling and works as a groundsman for Mike Bissett Fencing.
HOW THEY MET: The couple met on a blind date organised by
friends in 2006.
THE PROPOSAL: Martin popped the question while the couple were
enjoying a trip in a hot air balloon while celebrating three years
together. Mary later picked her own ring,which she had specially
THE WEDDING: Martin and Mary tied the knot at The Three Kings in Falkirk on October 29. There were 50 guests during the day and a total of 180 in the evening. A barn owl delivered the rings, a tractor was outside because of Martin's interests in farming, and Highland dancers
performed at the reception.
THE WEDDING PARTY: The best man was Martin's friend Zak Stark who had
been involved in organising the couple's blind date, and Martin's usher was Mary's older brother Ian Rhind. Mary's bridesmaid was school friend Mhairi Gilchrist. The page boy was Martin's nephew Finlay MacMillan who is three-and-a-half.
THE DRESS: Mary's dress was created by an Australian designer. It had a sweetheart neckline, was fully fitted and had a cathedral-length train.
The dress also featured pearls and Swarovski crystals on the bodice and skirt.
THE HONEYMOON: The newlyweds spent 11 nights at a five-star lodge on the Isle of Lewis.
