The wedding of Claire Maxwell and Barry McCallum
THE COUPLE: Claire from Falkirk is 28 and works as a nail technician and Barry (30) works off-shore and is originally from Motherwell. The newlyweds live in Redding.
HOW THEY MET: The couple first met four years ago. They were on separate nights out in a bar in Glasgow’s Merchant City and struck up a conversation.
THE PROPOSAL: The couple say that they decided to get married in June 2012 after having a talk at home about their futures. They say it was less of a proposal and more of an agreement, but Claire quickly got Barry into full ring-shopping mode.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on September 6, 2013 at Orocco Pier. There were 98 guests at the ceremony and 120 in total in the evening. The wet and windy weather didn’t tarnish the day one bit and a great time was had by all. Barry’s highlight of the day was seeing Claire for the first time, while Claire loved dancing the night away at the reception.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Claire’s younger sisters Nicola and Stephanie Maxwell were the bridesmaids, and Barry’s younger brother Matthew was the best man.
THE DRESS: Claire wore a glitzy, strapless dress with lots of detailing on the bodice and a full skirt.
THE HONEYMOON: The couple spent two weeks in Mexico. Again they were unlucky with the weather but had a fantastic time. They love Mexico and hope to return again and again.
THANKS: Enormous thanks go to Claire’s mum Catherine Maxwell. Special thanks also go to Claire’s dad David and Barry’s dad and step-mum Matthew and Mary McCallum.
