Travellers are advised to plan ahead this evening as an amber warning for snow in central Scotland has been issued.

The Met Office said that snow and icy conditions could be expected from 4 p.m. today.

Areas more than 200m above sea level could expect 10cm of snow, while those 400m and above could expect 20cm.

Low-lying areas could expect around 10-15 cm of snow.

ScotRail services on the Glasgow-Edinburgh mainline are currently running as normal, as are services calling at Larbert, Falkirk Grahamston and Camelon stations.

Meanwhile, the A8004 between Checkbar roundabout and Bonnybridge golf club remains closed to traffic today. Council engineers will visit the site tomorrow in an attempt to clear blocked drains which are causing flooding.
