Traffic is slow on motorways around the Falkirk district following a five car collision this morning.

The incident happened at around 7.40 a.m. on the southbound M80 lane between junction 7 (A803, Haggs) and junction 6a (B816, Castlecary) involving a Volkswagen Golf, Jaguar XF, Vauxhall Astra, Totyota Corolla and Audi A3 with a trailer.

All lanes have been re-opened but travel time was around 45 minutes through the affected area with congestion also affecting the M876 to junction 1 (A883, Checkbar).

Police say there were no major injuries. An ambulance, police and BEAR Scotland are in attendance.

Trains into Falkirk have also been delayed due to signalling problems in Stirling.

According to Scotrail, “poor rail conditions” between Croy, Cumbernauld, Dunblane and Glasgow Queen Street are causing the problems.
