The family who died in a head-on collision with a lorry have been named by police.
Shauna Robb (20) and Graham Lockhart (23) from Bathgate were killed along with their two children Tyler David (2) and 11-month-old Arianna Rose Sheryl when their Fiat car hit a lorry on the busy A801 near Polmont yesterday at around 2.20 p.m.
Police said the car had veered into the oncoming lane before it hit the articulated lorry. Investigations are continuing into the incident today.
The family were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the lorry was unhurt but was treated for shock.
The families of the parents have been left devastated by their loss.
Mr Lockhart’s family said: “The Lockhart family are devastated at the loss of their son, daughter in law, and two grandchildren and wish to be left to grieve in peace.”
Sergeant Andrew Thomson from Forth Valley Road Policing said: “We are continuing our appeal for anyone who witnessed this tragic collision or who saw a black Fiat hatchback in the area prior to the incident at 2.20 p.m.
“We are particularly keen to trace the driver of a silver people carrier, which was seen in the area prior to the crash.
“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
The stretch of road, which links the M8 and M9 motorways, runs from the Bowhouse roundabout at the Murco garage near Maddiston to the Lathallan roundabout which accesses Polmont and junction 4 of the M9 and was closed for most of the day while police investigated the crash.
Fire crews from Falkirk, Bo’ness and Larbert attended the scene. One of the victims had to be cut out of the car using cutting gear by firefighters.
