The Falkirk Herald has made it to the final five in the search for Scotland’s best local paper.

Our new look has gone down well with our readers and now judges in the Scottish Press Awards have added their seal of approval by shortlisting it in the Weekly Newspaper of the Year category.

The result will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony and gala dinner on Thursday, April 19, at the Radisson BLU Hotel, Glasgow.

Making up the final five are the Southern Reporter, Northern Scotland, West Highland News and Inverness Courier.

The Herald has lifted the title twice before and editor Colin Hume said: ‘‘We are obviously delighted to make the final once again.

‘‘A lot of hard work went into the relaunch of the paper and it’s pleasing to see so many people enjoying it.’’
