Gala girl Tanisha Smith is sure to be the ‘belle of the ball’ when she takes centre stage at this weekend’s Dawson Gala Day.
The Bainsford primary pupil will be sparkling in a dress donated by Lisa Wardlaw, owner of Belle of the Ball boutique in Bank Street.
Alongside Tanisha will be the gala boy, Stuart Wright, and the pair will head up a whole host of fun events in the area. The fun starts on Friday with an open afternoon and barbeque at the Dawson Centre from 3 p.m., with inflatable fun for all ages.
At 5 p.m. will be the bogey race – with the winners receiving trophies which have been donated by Denny Engraving. Categories include fastest lap, best dressed Bogey and spirit of the event. There is still time to enter the race – participants need to be there by 4 p.m. to join in.
Later on Friday will be the senior evening for youngsters in S1 to S6, with various activities including Thai boxing and open air Zumba.
Saturday is the main event with the gala day parade kicking off at 12.15 p.m.
This year’s theme is Disney so youngsters are being encouraged to dress up as their favourite character for the day.
In the park will be activities including inflatables, animal petting zoo and kiddie rides. There will also be a play bus and pony rides, as well as music from The Centanarios and various stalls.
