Flying the flag for Scotland in the United States are two Falkirk students.

Both have gained internships through The Saltire Foundation’s undergraduate programme which selects from the most able, talented and ambitious young people in the country.

Murdo Connochie and Assim Sattar are among 104 students taking part in the world-class initiative which allows students to realise their potential through challenging work experience, an increasing knowledge of the commercial world, gaining a global perspective and enjoy networking opportunities.

A former Graeme High pupil, Murdo is currently with Liberty Mutual in Boston. He is about to enter his final year at Heriot-Watt University where he is studying actuarial science.

Assim Sattar is spending the next few weeks working in Texas in the engineering department of TAESL, a joint venture between Rolls Royce and American Airlines.

The former Linlithgow Academy pupil is studying for a master’s degree in Aero-Mechanical Engineering at Strathclyde University.
