Women working in a Bainsford betting shop were threatened with a knife during a robbery.

The incident occurred around 6.25pm yesterday at the Coral Racing premises in Main Street.

The two women, aged 19 and 40, were working when a male entered and presented a knife before demanding money.

He then left with a three-figure sum of cash and made off on a mountain bike towards Bainsford Cross.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come forward.

The suspect is described as having a green scarf covering his face and wearing black jogging bottoms and a grey hooded top.

Detective Sergeant Steven Hoggan from Falkirk CID said: “The two members of staff were not injured during this robbery but were left understandably shaken as a result.

“We are pursuing various lines of inquiry to trace the male responsible and anyone who can help us identify him is asked to contact police immediately.

“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation should also get in touch.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
